SwimSafe Puerto Rico ("SwimSafe", "we", "us", or "our") is a mobile application that provides real-time ocean safety information for beaches in Puerto Rico. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding that information.
SwimSafe works without user accounts or registration. We collect only the data needed to operate the app, send optional alerts, and understand how the service is used:

We do not collect your name, email address, photos, contacts, or require you to create an account. We do not collect or store your precise location on our servers.
If you opt in to push notifications, we use Pushwoosh, a third-party notification service, to deliver alerts when beach flag conditions change. Pushwoosh receives your device's push token and a vendor-assigned device identifier to route notifications. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device's Settings.

We use Google Firebase Analytics on the mobile app to collect aggregated usage information (such as which screens are opened and general interaction events). This helps us improve reliability and features. Firebase may receive device and app interaction data as described in the Firebase Privacy and Security documentation and Google Privacy Policy.
We use Meta's SDK to measure the effectiveness of public-safety and information campaigns on Facebook and Instagram (for example, whether someone installed or opened the app after seeing a campaign). SwimSafe does not show advertisements inside the app. Meta may process device identifiers and app events according to the Meta Privacy Policy.
On iPhone and iPad, Apple may show a system prompt asking whether you allow SwimSafe to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites. We show this prompt before using an advertising identifier for Meta measurement. If you choose Ask App Not to Track, we do not enable advertising identifier collection for Meta; we may still collect aggregated analytics as described above.
On Android, you can limit ad personalization in your device settings; our use of identifiers follows your device choices and applicable law.
Ocean condition data displayed in the app comes from public sources:

SwimSafe stores some preferences (such as language selection and notification opt-in) on your device. Language may also be sent to Pushwoosh when notifications are enabled so alerts match your chosen language.

Campaign measurement through Meta is for understanding outreach effectiveness, not for showing ads in SwimSafe.
Push notification tokens are retained by Pushwoosh for as long as you have the app installed and notifications enabled. If you uninstall the app or disable notifications, the token becomes inactive and is eventually purged by Pushwoosh in accordance with their retention policies.
Analytics and measurement providers (Google Firebase and Meta) retain data according to their own policies and our configuration. Aggregated analytics are typically retained for a limited period defined by those services.
SwimSafe is a general-audience app that provides public safety information. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. We do not require account registration or collect names or email addresses from users.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
