SwimSafe Puerto Rico ("SwimSafe", "we", "us", or "our") is a mobile application that provides real-time ocean safety information for beaches in Puerto Rico. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding that information.
SwimSafe is designed to work without user accounts or registration. We collect only the minimum data necessary to deliver the service:
| Data | Purpose | Linked to Identity |
|---|---|---|
| Device identifier (vendor ID) | Deliver push notifications to the correct device | No |
| Push notification token | Send beach flag change alerts | No |
| Notification interaction data | Understand which alerts are useful to improve the service | No |
| Language and device type | Display content in the correct language and ensure compatibility | No |
We do not collect your name, email address, location, photos, contacts, or any other personally identifiable information.
If you opt in to push notifications, we use Pushwoosh, a third-party notification service, to deliver alerts when beach flag conditions change. Pushwoosh receives your device's push token and a vendor-assigned device identifier to route notifications. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device's Settings.
For more information, see the Pushwoosh Privacy Policy.
Ocean condition data displayed in the app comes from public sources:
We do not share your data with these agencies.
SwimSafe stores your preferences (such as language selection and notification settings) locally on your device. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server.
SwimSafe does not:
Push notification tokens are retained by Pushwoosh for as long as you have the app installed and notifications enabled. If you uninstall the app or disable notifications, the token becomes inactive and is eventually purged by Pushwoosh in accordance with their data retention policies.
SwimSafe is a general-audience app that provides public safety information. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since we do not collect personally identifiable information from any user, no special action is required.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
